In the words of the composer himself, “The theme of peace is always current. This prayer, which is almost a cry of anguish, cries out to the Lord, our God, for the much desired peace, for all men of good will”
This video is part of the celebration of the ‘WORLD CORAL DAY’ and its 30th anniversary in 2020 – An international choral event to extol the values of solidarity, peace and understanding! The event is supported by IFCM (International Federation of Choral Music). Since 1990 thousands of choirs have been joining in the celebration of World Choral Day on or around the 2nd Sunday of December. http://worldchoralday.org/
This prayer has accompanied the choir since the founding of the group in
2000. It remains its piece of resistance, due to its always current content
and challenging harmonic complexity. This year, considering that the
choir could not sing together because of the pandemic, we decided to
present it in a virtual way.
Proclamation:
“Sing Choirs of the World!
May your voices take springs there where fire burns.
May your songs put roses there where battlefields lay.
Open furrow and sow love to harvest fruits of hope.
Sing to liberty where despots rule,
Sing to equality where poverty nests,
Sing to love where hate prevails.
May your singing direct the world so that peace takes over wars,
so that all will cherish the earth,
so that all race or color discrimination is banished
so that we will be together as sisters and brothers
so that this planet rejoices with your voices.”
Este vídeo integra a celebração do ‘DIA MUNDIAL DO CANTO CORAL’- em sua 30º edição – evento coral internacional concebido para exaltar os valores da solidariedade, paz e compreensão entre os povos! Nos últimos anos, milhares de espetáculos aconteceram em cerca de 50 países com mais de 100.000 cantores, divulgando a ‘proclamação’ (declamada no início) e a importância do Dia Mundial do Canto Coral. Realiza-se sob os auspícios da IFCM (International Federation of Choral Music).
Essa prece tem acompanhado o Collegium Cantorum desde sua fundação no ano de 2.000. Continua sendo nossa peça de resistência, pelo conteúdo sempre atual, e um constante desafio musical, dado a complexidade harmônica. Este ano, decidimos trabalhar a obra na forma de coro virtual.
